Táng Dézōng 唐德宗 (personal name Lǐ Kuò 李适, 742–805), ninth emperor of the Táng dynasty, reigned 779–805 (era names Jiànzhōng 建中, Xīngyuán 興元, Zhēnyuán 貞元). His reign included the consolidation of the post-An-Lushan dispensation, the suppression of the Jīngyuán mutiny (783), and an extended Zhēnyuán-era patronage of Buddhist translation at Cháng’ān — most notably the work of 般若 Prajña on the forty-fascicle Gaṇḍavyūha (KR6c0008) and shorter Esoteric texts. He was also a patron of the Zhēnyuán xīndìng shìjiào mùlù 貞元新定釋教目錄 of Yuánzhào 圓照 (800).
