Late-Míng landscape painter and theorist; zì Fūwǔ 敷五, a zhūshēng 諸生 of Jiāngdū 江都 (modern Yángzhōu). Born 1579 per CBDB; active in the late Wànlì through Chóngzhēn decades (c. 1610–1640). With his brother Táng Zhìyǐn 唐志尹 (also a painter) constituted a brother-painter pair celebrated locally. Especially noted for landscape. Author of KR3h0049 Huìshì wēiyán 繪事微言 (2 juàn), the principal late-Míng landscape-painting compendium and a major source for the Kāngxī KR3h0061 Pèiwénzhāi shūhuà pǔ. His doctrinal alignment is with the Dǒng Qíchāng 董其昌 literati school: “the foundation of painting is qìyùn; the priority is reading books.”
