Ōtsuka Keisetsu 大塚敬節 (Chinese reading: Dàzhǒng Jìngjié; the catalog spelling 大塜敬節 substitutes the variant character 塜 for 塚; both refer to the same person, 1900–1980), the most influential twentieth-century Japanese kanpō 漢方 (traditional Chinese medicine) physician. Native of Kōchi prefecture. Studied under Yumoto Kyūshin 湯本求真 (1876–1941), the founder of the modern Shōkōbō 傷寒方 (Cold-Damage Formula) school. Co-founder of the Tōyō rinshō igaku 東洋臨床醫學 (Eastern Clinical Medicine) movement and the post-war Japan Society for Oriental Medicine (Nihon Tōyō Igaku Kai 日本東洋醫學會). His paediatric handbook Zhōngguó érkē yījiàn 中國兒科醫鑑 (KR3ej042) is a Japanese-language modern presentation of the Chinese paediatric tradition for Japanese clinical use, integrating kobō-ha classical-formula doctrine with modern Western-medical paediatric clinical knowledge. Ōtsuka is regarded as the principal twentieth-century rejuvenator of kanpō medicine in Japan and is a major figure in the Sino-Japanese medical-cultural exchange of the 1930s–1970s.
