Táng-period Buddhist monk active at Dūnhuáng during the Tǔfān 吐蕃 (Tibetan) administration of the Hexi corridor (786–848). Identified by his lay-surname Yáo in the head-cartouche of P.3664: “Yáo héshàng Jīngāngwǔlǐ 姚和上金剛五禮”. Wāng Juān 汪娟 (in Dūnhuáng lǐchànwén yánjiū, Taipei: Fagu wenhua, 1998, p.224) tentatively identifies him with Yáo Lìjì 姚利濟, a monk of the Jīnguāngmíngsì 金光明寺 of Tǔfān-period Dūnhuáng — a plausible identification awaiting further evidence. Composer of the Jīngāng wǔlǐ 金剛五禮 KR6v0071 KR6v0072, an influential popular lǐchàn 禮懺 (worship-and-confession) liturgy organised around the Vajracchedikā; eighteen Dūnhuáng manuscript witnesses survive.
