Southern-Sòng grand councillor and paleographer, zì Yànfā 彥發, of Jiāxìng 嘉興 (modern Zhejiang). Granted jìnshì in Qiándào 2 (1166); under Níngzōng he rose through senior posts to Lǐbù shàngshū jiān gěishìzhōng quán zhī Shūmìyuàn shì jiān Tàizǐ bīnkè jìn cānzhī zhèngshì; on retirement Tíjǔ Dòngxiāogōng. His career is in his Sòngshǐ biography (juàn 393). Two surviving philological monuments in the Sìkù: the BānMǎ zìlèi KR1j0032 (c. 1184), a topical glossary of archaic graphs in the Shǐjì and Hànshū; and the Hànlì zìyuán KR1j0033 (c. 1190s), a comprehensive paleographic compendium of HànWèiJìn clerical-script forms drawn from 309 Hàn stelae and 31 WèiJìn stelae. Together they make him one of the principal Southern-Sòng philologists. CBDB lifedates 1133–1211, in agreement with the Sòngshǐ biography and the catalog meta.
