Mèng Jìkǒng 孟繼孔 (hào Chūnyí 春沂, fl. late Wànlì, c. 1570–1610), Míng-period paediatrician of Jīnlíng 金陵 (Nánjīng), active in Báixià 白下. Author of Yòuyòu jí 幼幼集 (KR3ej040), with postface by Hú Wénhuàn 胡文煥 of Qiántáng 錢唐 dated Wànlì 23 yǐwèi 1595 mèngqiū wàngrì (autumn first month full-moon). According to Hú’s postface, Mèng was a paediatric clinician of strong reputation, called repeatedly to treat smallpox cases that other physicians had pronounced incurable. The postface describes Mèng’s háoxiá 豪俠 (chivalrous) temperament and his clinical principle of treating patients regardless of social status. Mèng had been jiān yú sì 艱於嗣 (struggling to produce heirs) before the work’s composition; the title Yòuyòu jí echoes Mencius’s yòu wú yòu yǐ jí rén zhī yòu 幼吾幼以及人之幼 (extend my love of my own children to others’ children). Mèng’s collected paediatric writings include the Yòuyòu jí and an edition of Qián Yǐ’s Qiánshì fāng 錢氏方 prepared with Hú Wénhuàn. No CBDB record.
