Major early-Qīng calligrapher and court official; Yúntāo 雲韜, hào Shùgōng 樹峰, of Wújiāng 吳江. Lifedates 1639–1708 (CBDB matches catalog meta). Kāngxī 24 (1685) jìnshì; rose through the Hanlin Academy to the post of Vice-Minister of Rites and a Reader-in-Waiting of the Southern Studio (Nánshūfáng 南書房). A favoured calligrapher of the Kāngxī emperor, he was the principal compiler of the imperially-authorised KR3h0061 Yùdìng Pèiwénzhāi shūhuà pǔ 御定佩文齋書畫譜 (1708), the greatest single Chinese encyclopaedic compilation on calligraphy and painting, presented to the throne in the year of his death.
