Late-Míng official, classicist and connoisseur; zì Wénróng 文融, hào Yuèfēng 月峰, of Yúyáo 餘姚 in Zhèjiāng. Lifedates 1542–1613 (CBDB). Wànlì jiǎxū 甲戌 (1574) jìnshì. Career: rose to Nánjīng Bīngbù shàngshū 南京兵部尚書; posthumous title Wénjiǎn 文簡. Famed in his time for examination essays (zhìyì 制義); his retreat to scholarship in his last years produced KR3h0047 Shūhuà bábá 書畫跋跋 (6 juàn), a critical commentary on Wáng Shìzhēn 王世貞’s colophons on calligraphy and painting, transmitted in manuscript until Qiánlóng gēngshēn (1740). Also author of an important Chūnqiū kǎo 春秋考 and commentaries on the Shī. Note: not to be confused with the homonymous Míng Sūn Kuàng (CBDB 347812) of Wànlì who held lesser office.
