Sòng Màochéng 宋懋澄 (1570–1622), Yòuqīng 幼清, hào Zhìyuán 稚源; native of Huátíng 華亭 (Sōngjiāng prefecture). Grandson of 宋詡 (Sòng Xǔ) and son of 宋公望 (Sòng Gōngwàng). Jǔrén of Wànlì 28 (1600); never jìnshì. Late-Míng literatus and short-story writer; principal published works include the Jiǔ yuè jí 九籥集 (collected works) and the Jiǔ yuè bié jí 九籥別集. He compiled his grandfather Sòng Xǔ’s and father Sòng Gōngwàng’s writings into the family corpus Zhú yǔ shān fáng zá bù 竹嶼山房雜部 (KR3j0171). Màochéng’s Liúcuìyī jì 劉翠翠記 is one of the precursor stories to Féng Mènglóng’s Yùshì míngyán, making him an important transitional figure in the late-Míng vernacular short-story tradition.
