Sōtei 宗禎 (also Teizan 禎山, by-name Onoyama 尾野山) — Mid-Edo period Japanese Abhidharma scholar-monk, abbot of Onoyama-ji 尾野山寺. He is documented only through the dated colophons of his sole canonical work, Yǒuzōng qīshíwǔ fǎ jì 有宗七十五法記 (KR6t0021, T71n2325) — a three-fascicle Abhidharma primer composed in Kyōhō 13 = 1728 as an improvement upon the previously-circulating anonymous primer KR6t0020 Qīshíwǔ fǎ míngmù, and published with his disciples’ annotations in Kyōhō 15 = 1730.
He should not be confused with the homonymous Sōtei 宗禎 (also written 瑞秀宗禎) of the Sōtō Zen lineage (DILA A040085) — disciple of Kikuen Sōki 菊湲宗喜.
DILA Buddhist Person Authority A000599. No biographical detail beyond the work’s colophons is preserved.
