Yóu Tóng 尤侗 (1618–1704)

Zhǎnchéng 展成. Hào Xītáng lǎorén 西堂老人; also Huǐān 悔庵. Originally of Liángxī (Wúxī) but the family had moved to Wújùn (Sūzhōu); held himself a descendant of Yóu Mào 尤袤 of the Liángxī Yóu line. Selected as a Bóxué hóngcí (Broadly-Learned and Vastly-Erudite) of Kāngxī 18 (1679); appointed Hànlínyuàn jiǎntǎo and shìjiǎng — a participant in the Kāngxī-era Míng shǐ compilation. A leading figure of early-Qīng Sūzhōu literary culture; author of the Xītáng zázǔ and the dramas Diào Pí-pa 弔琵琶, Hēi bái wèi 黑白衛, and others.

His relevance to KR4d is editorial: in the early Kāngxī era he gathered the surviving fragments of his ancestor Yóu Mào’s literary collection from miscellaneous sources, edited them into 2 juǎn, and put them into print as Liángxī yígǎo KR4d0229 — preserving the only surviving substantial fragment of the literary corpus of one of the four great Southern-Sòng poets.

(The principal subject of this person note is the editor of KR4d0229. His own substantial literary corpus is later than the KR4d horizon and not catalogued in the Kanripo KR4d division.)
