Zhāng Yuánkǎi 張元凱 (16th century, active mid-to-late Wànlì), Zuǒyú 左虞, of Wúxiàn 吳縣 (Sūzhōu, Jiāngsū). By shìzhí (inherited military office) was Sūzhōuwèi zhǐhuī (Imperial Guard officer at Sūzhōu); twice supervised grain-transport northward; self-resigned and returned home. He was a close friend of Wáng Shìzhēn, who twice prefaced his collection and after Zhāng’s death composed a chóuzhī shī (libation poem) for him — both pieces preserved in Sìbù gǎo KR4e0201. Wáng compared Zhāng to Shěn Qìngzhī 沈慶之 and Cáo Jǐngzōng 曹景宗 — the Liùcháo wǔjiàng wénshì (military-commander-as-literary-officer) types. Zhū Yízūn’s Jìngzhìjū shīhuà judges Zhāng’s Xīyuàn gōngcí as gāo chū Shìzhēn zhī shàng. His collection is the Fátánzhāi jí KR4e0206. CBDB 34723 has zero markers; lifedates unresolved.
