A Five-Dynasties / early-Sòng Daoist master, whose biography is preserved at [[KR5a0298|DZ 296 Lìshì zhēnxiān tǐdào tōngjiàn 歷世真仙體道通鑑]] 47.15a. Author of the Tàishàng shēngxuán xiāozāi hùmìng miàojīng sòng 太上昇玄消災護命妙經頌 (KR5a0324 / DZ 312), a rhymed commentary on the Táng-period [[KR5a0019|Tàishàng shēngxuán xiāozāi hùmìng miàojīng 太上昇玄消災護命妙經]] (DZ 19). The Daozàng edition incorrectly attributes the work to Zhēnyī xiānshēng Sīmǎ Zǐwēi 司馬子微 (i.e., Sīmǎ Chéngzhēn 司馬承禎, 647–735) of the Táng — but as Hans-Hermann Schmidt notes (Schipper & Verellen 2004, 1:317), the Lìshì zhēnxiān tǐdào tōngjiàn biography of Zhāng Bó states that he wrote a rhymed commentary on the work in question, and quotes the first and last lines of that commentary, which correspond exactly to the present text. The misattribution to Sīmǎ probably arose because the Tàngrén ascription of the parent scripture (in the Táng) was conflated with the authorship of the later commentary. CBDB returns several persons of this name; none can be confidently matched. The catalog meta dates Zhāng to fl. 10th cent. 後半, the second half of the tenth century.
