Yànqǐ 彥起 (lifedates not preserved), Southern Sòng vinaya scholar of the Yǒngjiā Chángníngsì 永嘉常寧寺 in Wēnzhōu 溫州 (modern Zhèjiāng). The sole datum about his life comes from the colophon to his own work Shìmén guījìng yí hùfǎ jì 釋門歸敬儀護法記 (KR6k0252), a three-fascicle subcommentary on Nánshān Dàoxuān 南山道宣’s Shìmén guījìng yí 釋門歸敬儀 (KR6k0182), the preface of which is dated to the Shàoxīng 紹興 20 gēngwǔ year (1150) at the close of the summer-retreat. Per DILA A000826: monk; shēngpíng bùxiáng (life not in detail). Yànqǐ’s evident concern was the erosion of guījìng 歸敬 ritual decorum among Sòng-period Buddhists, and he wrote his subcommentary as a corrective to perceived doctrinal looseness in the prior reading-tradition of Dàoxuān’s text — most notably the schematics of the Xuānhé 宣和 era Fànqí lǜshī 梵琦律師, which he found incomplete.
