Xú Wúdǎng 徐無黨
Native of Yǒngkāng 永康 (in modern Zhèjiāng). Floruit mid-Northern Sòng, Bǎoyuán through Huángyòu eras (1030s–1050s). Jìnshì of Qìnglì 6 (1046). CBDB id 46326 (no transmitted lifedates).
A younger scholar in Ōuyáng Xiū’s intellectual circle. His sole transmitted work is the zhù (commentary) appended to Ōuyáng Xiū’s Xīn Wǔdài shǐ (KR2a0030); composed during Ōuyáng Xiū’s lifetime as a working aid to his master’s text. The Sìkù compilers find the commentary shallow but preserve it because of its long association with the Xīn Wǔdài shǐ tradition. No biography in the Sòngshǐ; mentioned only briefly in the Sòng bibliographic catalogues.
