Early-Qīng (Kāng-xī-era) layman of Jiāxīng 嘉興 (Zhèjiāng), sobriquet Nánhú Pǔrén 南湖圃人. Lifedates unrecorded. Author of three works: Jīngāng jīng yǐngshuō 金剛經郢說 (KR6c0076, X25 no. 488), prefaced Kāngxī 12 = 1673 (康熈十有二年癸丑); a Zhùshū biànzhèng 注疏辯正 (commentarial polemic, lost or extra-canonical); and a calendrical-mathematical work Tiānyuán lìlǐ quánshū 天元歷理全書 (a treatise on the tiānyuán algebra of calendrical computation, marking him as one of the early-Qīng Vajracchedikā-commenting laymen who simultaneously pursued Western-influenced mathematics). Co-compiled the Jiāxīngxiàn zhì 嘉興縣志 in 9 juan during the Kāngxī era. The combination of Buddhist sūtra exegesis with mathematical-astronomical scholarship is characteristic of the kǎozhèng-flavoured early-Qīng Jiāxīng intellectual milieu.
