徐達

Xú Dá (zì Tiāndé 天德, 1332–1385), founding-Míng general from Háozhōu 濠州 (mod. Fèngyáng, Ānhuī); the principal field commander of 朱元璋 Zhū Yuánzhāng’s anti-Yuán campaigns and conventionally ranked first among the founding marshals. He led the northern expedition of 1367–1368 that drove the Yuán court out of Dàdū 大都 (Beijing) and inaugurated the Hóngwǔ reign; thereafter campaigned repeatedly against the northern Yuán remnant until his death in Hóngwǔ 18 (1385). Enfeoffed Wèiguógōng 魏國公 in 1370 and posthumously elevated Zhōngshānwáng 中山王 (“Prince of Zhōngshān”) with the posthumous title Wǔníng 武寧. Named in the preface to KR3el003 as one of the campaign-officers whose wound experience contributed to the imperial-secret traumatology corpus there pseudepigraphically attributed to 劉基 Liú Jī.
