Xú Jiē 徐階 (1503–1583), Zǐshēng 子升, hào Shǎohú 少湖 (also Cúnzhāi 存齋), native of Sōngjiāng Huátíng 松江華亭 (modern Shànghǎi region). Jìnshì of Jiājìng 2 (1523, tànhuā). Reached Shǒufǔ 首輔 (Senior Grand Secretary) under Jiājìng and Lóngqìng; principal architect of the post-Yán Sōng 嚴嵩 reform of the Nèigé (Grand Secretariat); known for his integrity in eventually compiling the case against Yán.

Editor of the present 1-juǎn recension of Yuè Fēi 岳飛 岳飛’s surviving writings, the Yuè Wǔmù yíwén KR4d0191 — collected from fragmentary sources including the Yuèmiào jí 岳廟集 (YuèFēi shrine collection). The Sìkù editors note that Xú’s recension was originally placed as appendix to a 4-juǎn shrine-collection, with later-period poems-and-prose at the front; the Sìkù editors disapprove of the placement as inverted and excise the Míng-period miscellaneous appendices, retaining only Yuè’s surviving writings.

CBDB id 68547 confirms 1503–1583.
