Xú Língtāi 徐靈胎

Qīng-period physician and medical critic (1693–1771), original name Xú Dàchūn 徐大椿, Língtāi 靈胎, hào Huíxī lǎorén 洄溪老人, of Wújiāng 吳江 (Jiāngsū). One of the most influential mid-Qīng medical thinkers; author of the Yīxué yuánliú lùn 醫學源流論 (1757), Nànjīng jīngshì 難經經釋, Shénnóng běncǎo jīng bǎizhǒng lù 神農本草經百種錄, and the Shānghán lèifāng 傷寒類方. His polemical writings advocate strict return to the classical canon and severely criticise contemporary practice, including the wēnbǔ school and the Yīzōng jīnjiàn.
