Xīntài 心泰
A Yuán-Míng-transition Buddhist monk-historiographer; zì / hào Dài-zōng 岱宗 (alternately styled Dài-zōng-tài-gōng 岱宗泰公 or Dōng-shān Dài-zōng 東山岱宗 — the latter from his abbacy of Yuè-zhī Dōng-shān 越之東山 = the Dōng-shān monastery of Kuài-jī 會稽 in modern Shàoxīng). Native of Kuài-jī 會稽 (Zhèjiāng); identified in the colophon of his 《佛法金湯編》 KR6r0161 simply as 會稽沙門心泰 (“the Kuài-jī śramaṇa Xīn-tài”). Biographical sources are scant; the standard reference works (e.g. 《新續高僧傳四集》by 喻謙) place his lifedates as 1327–1415, identifying him as a Tiāntái-school monk of the early Míng who witnessed the Yuán-Míng dynastic transition.
His sole surviving work is the 《佛法金湯編》 Fófǎ jīntāng biān (X1628, 16 juǎn in the catalog meta — but the prefatorial sources call it 10 juǎn; the discrepancy reflects the late-Míng repagination of the 1600 reprint, which split the original ten into sixteen sub-units), an apologetic compilation of the lay supporters and imperial patrons of Buddhism from antiquity through the Yuán dynasty. The work was completed in Hóngwǔ 24 = 1391 (so per the preface of the zuǒjiǎngjīngshāmén Qīngjùn 清濬, dated 洪武二十四年歲在辛未秋七月初吉) and prefaced again in Hóngwǔ 26 = 1393 by Sū Bóhéng 蘇伯衡 of Méishān; the work was reprinted in Wànlì 萬曆 28 = 1600 by Tiāntái Xǐngshàngrén 天台惺上人, with a re-engraving preface by the layman Yú Rǔwéi 俞汝為 of Huátíng.
