Niàn 念 (Wénmù Niàn 文穆念)
Hào Wénmù 文穆 (“Cultured Solemn”). Born 明崇禎癸酉 6/23 巳時 = 1633-07-28 Gregorian; died 康熙丁巳 12/13 卯時 = 1678-01-05 Gregorian, shìshòu 45. Native of Qíyáng 祁陽 (NánChǔ); lay surname Jiǎng 蔣.
Lineage. Línjì-line dharma-heir of Lǎnfàng Zhìdà 嬾放智大 (Lǎnfàng’s master was the Míng-loyalist jìnshì who refused to surrender at Qíshān 歧山 Rénruìsì 仁瑞寺 — preserved as a remarkable Cáodòng cross-loyalist line).
Formation. 甲申 = 1644 (the dynastic-transition year, age 11): tonsured at Zǐyúnān 紫雲菴 under Fùzhī shī 復之師. 順治甲午 = 1654 entered the Qíshān assembly; full precepts that winter. 戊戌 = 1658: fǎfù from Lǎnfàng. 庚子春 = 1660 left Lǎnfàng to pilgrimage JiāngZhè.
Three abbacies. Fǎchuáng Shuānglín 法幢雙林 (Xìnyángzhōu); Dānxiá Xiānxiá 丹霞僊霞; Fúniú Yúnyán 伏牛雲巖.
