Southern-Sòng Chán monk, training disciple (cānxué 參學) and co-editor of the Yúngǔ héshàng yǔlù (KR6q0384) of the Línjì master Yúngǔ 雲谷. No further biographical information survives. Not to be confused with the Sixth Patriarch Huìnéng 慧能 (638–713), whose personal name was also 惠能 / 慧能 and whose dharma-name in some sources is transmitted as 惟能 as a variant orthography.
