Cí’ēn fǎshī 慈恩法師 (= 窺基)

The honorific Cí’ēn fǎshī 慈恩法師 (“Master of [Dà] cí’ēn[-sì]”) refers to 窺基 (Kuījī, 632–682), the disciple of 玄奘 and founder of the Cí’ēn / Fǎxiàng 慈恩 / 法相 school of Chinese Yogācāra Buddhism. The honorific is used in catalog meta entries and in textual colophons in place of the personal name; thus the catalog entry for KR6n0100 Dàshèng bǎifǎ míngmén lùn zhù names Cí’ēn fǎshī 慈恩法師 as the commentator, identifying Kuījī by his school-name.

For the full biography see 窺基 (per DILA Buddhist Person Authority A001131).
