Mùróng Yànféng 慕容彥逢 (1067–1117), zì Shūyù 淑遇, shì Wényǒu 文友 (canonical name), of Yíxìng 宜興 (Chángzhōu, Jiāngsū). Jìnshì of Yuányòu 3 / 1088. Posted Tónglíng zhǔbù (recorder of Tónglíng); subsequently passed the cíkē (literary erudition exam, the first round of Shàoshèng 1 / 1094); transferred Huáinán jiédù pànguān. Chóngníng 1 (1102) made Mìshūshěng jiàoshūláng; eventually rose to Xíngbù shàngshū (Vice-Director of Punishments). The Sòng shǐ has no biography of him; the principal source is his muzhi, recovered through the Yǒnglè dàdiǎn. As a literary servant of the Huīzōng court for fifteen years (a jìnjìn shìcóngzhīguān “near-court-attendant”), drafted many imperial documents — preserved in the present collection. The Sìkù tíyào criticises him for sycophantic memorials but acknowledges his elegant prose. Author of Chīwén táng jí 摛文堂集 KR4d0123 originally in 60 juǎn (per his muzhi); reduced to 30 juǎn by his grandson Mùróng Lún 慕容綸’s re-compilation. The catalog confirms 1066–1117 — followed here.
