Late-Sòng / early-Yuán Tiāntái 天台 master; sobriquet Hǔxī 虎溪 (with full name Hǔxī Huáizé 虎谿懷則 / 虎溪懷則). DILA Authority A001746. Native of Shàngyú 上虞 (modern Zhèjiāng). Lifedates unrecorded.
Major work: the Tiāntái chuán Fó xīnyìn jì 天台傳佛心印記 (KR6d0187, T1938, 1 juan) — a Yuán-period Tiāntái treatise on the transmission of the Buddha’s heart-seal through the Tiāntái lineage. The work is one of the most institutionally significant Yuán Tiāntái productions and articulates the Tiāntái claim to authentic transmission of the Buddha’s awakening.
Note: distinct from the Tang-period Huáizé 懷則 of Dàyǔsì 大禹寺 (DILA A006612, disciple of Dàoàn 道岸, 654–717), and from the Tang Hézhōng Huáizé 河中懷則 (DILA A007036, disciple of Mǎzǔ Dàoyī 馬祖道一).
