Chéng Jǔ 成矩

Mid-Míng editor, otherwise undocumented. CBDB has only the bare entry (id 403120, dynasty Míng = 19) without lifedates, native place, or office record.

His one editorial work attested in the bibliographic record:

  • [[KR1a0032|Bié běn Zhōuyì běnyì]] 別本周易本義 in four juan — the Míng-period editorial recension of Zhū Xī’s Zhōuyì běnyì, fixing the post-Yǒnglè dà quán-mediated condensed form (4 juan) for circulation. The corresponding Yuán běn Zhōuyì běnyì in twelve juan is registered in parallel as KR1a0031; both Sìkù registrations of Zhū Xī’s Běnyì belong together, with Chéng Jǔ responsible for the redactional layer of the post-Yǒnglè recension.

The Sìkù tiyao registers his work without further biographical comment. The post-Yǒnglè condensed Bié běn form was the recension actually used in late-Míng / Qīng -pedagogy and the imperial-examination tradition; Chéng Jǔ’s editorial fixing is therefore historically consequential despite his obscurity.
