Jièxián 戒賢 (Sanskrit Śīlabhadra, 529–645) was a seventh-century Indian Yogācāra master and abbot of Nālandā monastery. 玄奘 Xuánzàng studied under him for some five years at Nālandā during his Indian pilgrimage (c. 633–638), and Śīlabhadra’s transmission of the Yogācārabhūmi and associated Yogācāra doctrine became the basis for Xuánzàng’s translation programme at Cháng’ān and the founding doctrines of the Chinese Fǎxiàng 法相 school.
