Dài Bǐng 戴昺 (zì Jǐngmíng 景明, hào Dōngyě 東野) was a native of Tiāntái 天台 (modern Zhèjiāng) and the grand-nephew of the Jiānghúpài 江湖派 poet Dài Fùgǔ 戴復古, the “Shípíng Recluse” 石屏居士. He took his jìnshì in Jiādìng 嘉定 12 jǐmǎo 己卯 (1219) and was appointed Magistrate of Justice (法曹參軍) of Gànzhōu 贑州. From the self-preface to his collection it is clear that he later served as a staff aide in Chízhōu 池州 (“Qiūpǔ” 秋浦) during the Bǎoyòu 寶祐 era; the date of his death is unknown. His great-uncle Dài Fùgǔ praised him for “not learning the Late-Táng manner” (不學晚唐體) but having “heard the great elegant tone” (曾聞大雅音), an aesthetic stance Dài Bǐng himself defended in his polemical poem replying to those who debated Táng-versus-Sòng poetic styles. CBDB has no precise dates. His one extant work is the Dōngyě nónggē jí KR4d0333.
