Dài Xī 戴溪
Zì Xiàowàng / Shàowàng 肖望 / 少望, hào Mín’yǐn 岷隱 (self-styled after the Mín’gāng 岷崗 retreat shared with his friend Wáng Nán 王楠), posthumous title Wénduān 文端. Native of Yǒngjiā 永嘉 (modern Wēnzhōu 溫州, Zhèjiāng); grand-nephew of Dài Shù 戴述, one of the Yǒngjiā jiǔ xiānsheng 永嘉九先生.
Topped the shěngshì 省試 of Chúnxī 5 (1178) — the same cohort as Yè Shì 葉適, who placed second in the tíngshì 廷試 and later wrote to console Dài, calling him “shàowàng tiānxià qícái” 少望天下奇才. Served as 山長 (head) of the Shígǔ Academy 石鼓書院 in Héngzhōu 衡州 (Húnán) in 1185; later as 太學學錄 (1195), 兵部侍郎 (1206), 國子祭酒 兼 太子詹事 兼 秘書監 (1207), 太子右諭德 (1208), 權工部尚書 (1211), retiring as 龍圖閣學士 in 1215.
Birth year is given as 1144 (Shàoxīng jiǎzǐ 紹興甲子) in CBDB-aligned records, though some secondary sources give 1141; death year 1215 is firmly fixed (Jiādìng 8 嘉定八年).
