Zàn Yīn 昝殷 (conventionally dated c. 797 – c. 859, 唐), mid-Táng physician of Chéngdū 成都 (Sìchuān), active in the Dàzhōng 大中 era (847–860). Best known as the author of the Jīngxiào chǎnbǎo 經效產寶 (KR3ei048, c. 847), the earliest extant Chinese specialised obstetrical monograph, containing 378 obstetrical prescriptions in three juǎn. The work was famously discovered by Bái Mǐnzhōng 白敏中 (governor of Chéngdū) after a household childbirth-death prompted him to seek out a noted local physician; Bái presented the work to the imperial court, securing its later transmission to the Sòng. Zàn Yīn is also recorded as author of the Shíyī xīnjiàn 食醫心鑑 (dietary therapy) and a Zhèngtí āntāng zhōumìzhìyī fāng 政體安湯州蜜治宜方 — both substantially lost. Not in CBDB. The conventional lifedate bracket is from modern Chinese-medical-historiographic reference works; no firm documentary dates.
