Jǐngxiāo 景霄 was a late-Tang / Five-Dynasties Vinaya master active in Hángzhōu 杭州 under the WúYuè 吳越 royal patronage. Native of Dānqiū 丹丘. He was a disciple of Biǎogōng 表公; he later admired the lectures of Shǒuyán dūlí 守言闍黎 (= ācārya) at Dānqiū and went on to lecture at Jīnhuá Dōngbáishān 金華東白山. The Jiāngxī Huīyóu 江西徽猷 Vinaya master visited his lectures at the Chífàn piān 持犯篇 chapter and praised him publicly. Subsequently summoned by King Qián 錢氏 of WúYuè to Línān 臨安, where he was installed as abbot of Zhúlínsì 竹林寺 and shortly afterward of Běitǎsì 北塔寺 (in Tiānchéng 天成 2 = 927) and finally of Nán Zhēnshēnbǎotǎsì 南真身寶塔寺, where he died.
His magnum opus is the substantial seventeen-juan Sìfēnlǜ xíngshì chāo jiǎnzhèng jì 四分律行事鈔簡正記 (KR6k0167, X43n0737) — sometimes simply called Jiǎnzhèng 簡正 (“Plain and Correct”) — one of the most extensive surviving Tang/Five-Dynasties Nánshān sub-commentaries on Dàoxuān’s Xíngshì chāo.
