Táng-dynasty Tiāntái 天台 master and Lotus Sūtra exegete. DILA Authority A001281. Lifedates unrecorded. Author of two surviving subcommentaries on Zhìyǐ’s Miàofǎ liánhuá jīng wénjù (KR6d0014, T1718): the Miàojīng wénjù sīzhì zhūpǐn yàoyì 妙經文句私志諸品要義 (KR6d0018, X29n0595, 2 juan) and the much larger Miàojīng wénjù sīzhì jì 妙經文句私志記 (KR6d0019, X29n0596, 14 juan) — together among the most substantial Táng-period subcommentaries on the Wénjù outside Zhànrán’s tradition. The sīzhì 私志 (“private record”) in both titles is conventional, indicating that the work is not an official school transmission but a personal exegetical study.
Note: distinct from another Suí-period Zhìyún 智雲 / Wūyún 烏雲 (DILA A007547), a monk of the Huìrìdàocháng 慧日道場 in Luòyáng who died in the Rénshòu 仁壽 era (601–605) at age 50.
