Tánshèng 曇晟

Yúnyán Tánshèng 雲巖曇晟 (782–841), mid-Táng Chán master, dharma-heir of Yàoshān Wéiyǎn 藥山惟儼; teacher of Dòngshān Liángjiè, and the master to whom Dòngshān’s pivotal question on “the preaching of the insentient” (wúqíng shuōfǎ 無情說法) was addressed.
