Tányíng 曇瑩

Sobriquet Luóyuè 蘿月 (Vine-Moon). Native of Jiāxīng 嘉興 (Zhèjiāng). Active in the early Southern Sòng (Jiànyán era, 1127–1130). Birth and death years not securely recorded.

A Sòng Buddhist monk (shì) celebrated for his expertise in Yìjīng-studies — Hóng Mài’s 洪邁 Róngzhāi suíbǐ records him as the Yìsēng (Yì-monk) of the period. He extended his -studies into xīngmìng (astrological-fate) divination through the Luòlùzǐ fù 珞琭子賦 commentary tradition — composing the Luòlùzǐ fù zhù 珞琭子賦注 (KR3g0036) in the Jiànyán dīngwèi year (1127) that became one of the principal four-house commentaries on the foundational Luòlùzǐ text. The Sìkù-recension’s specific commentary on the Luòlùzǐ is by Tányíng (with embedded references to Wáng Tíngguāng 王廷光 and Lǐ Tóng 李同’s earlier commentaries).
