Cáo Ān 曹安 (fl. 1444–1487; CBDB id 454868), Yǐníng 以寧, was a mid-Míng literatus of Sōngjiāng 松江 (Wúsōng). Jǔrén of Zhèngtǒng jiǎzǐ (1444); served as Ānqiūxiàn jiàoyù 安邱縣教諭 (Education Officer of Ānqiū county); was also recruited as a senior compiler (zǒngcái guān) for the Xiànzōng shílù — the imperial Veritable Records of the Chénghuà emperor. He composed many poems and prose works (the Sìkù editors note “his composed work is much, but the poetic and prose collections have not been transmitted”). His one surviving work is the Lán yán cháng yǔ 讕言長語 (KR3j0151) in 1 juàn, a bǐjì of long lifetime hearings and observations, dated Chénghuà 22 = 1486 fifth month. The book’s lùn dú jīng (discussion of reading the classics) entry is regarded by the Sìkù editors as qiē zhōng míngdài súxué zhī bì — “deeply hitting the failings of Míng-period vulgar-learning.”
