Cáo Běnróng 曹本榮 (1621–1664), zì Hòu’ān 厚菴, was an early-Qīng official and diary-lecturer (jīngyán rì jiǎngguān 經筵日講官) from Huánggāng 黃岡 (modern Húběi 湖北). He passed the Shùnzhì-period jìnshì examination and rose to Reader-in-Waiting of the Inner Hànlín Secret Documents Academy (Nèi hànlín mìshū yuàn shìdú 內翰林祕書院侍讀), with the additional honor of Left Junior Tutor of the Office of the Heir Apparent (Zuǒ chūnfāng zuǒ shùzǐ 左春坊左庶子).
In Shùnzhì 13 (1656) he was commanded jointly with Fù Yǐjiàn 傅以漸 (傅以漸) to compile the Yìjīng tōngzhù 易經通注 (KR1a0115) in nine juàn — the first major imperial Yìjīng compilation of the Qīng. The work was completed and presented to the throne in the same year. He died young, at forty-three, in 1664.
