Zhū Zǔyí 朱祖怡 (mid-twentieth-century Chinese-medicine scholar and editor, fl. 1950s–1960s), the principal modern editor of 費伯雄 Fèi Bóxióng’s Yīchún shèngyì 醫醇賸義 (KR3er049). Zhū’s editorial bá (postface) characterises Fèi as having had little leisure-time, having completed the Shèngyì only in old age, and disclaiming any motivation of profit or reputation. Zhū’s editorial framing reflects the new pedagogy of the early-PRC era: the reader is urged to “from the clinical text discover the principles of pattern-distinction; from the formula-methods discover the principles of drug use; from the relative comparison and the contrary comparison discover the correct viewpoint of Chinese medical theory”. The Zhū Zǔyí annotated edition is the standard modern recension of the Yīchún shèngyì. Biographical detail otherwise unrecovered.
