Lǐ Bǎichuān 李百川 is the attributed author of the Qīng-dynasty novel Lǜ Yě Xiān Zōng 綠野仙蹤 (KR4k0282). His biography is almost entirely unknown. He was active during the Qiánlóng 乾隆 reign period (1736–1796) and reportedly spent nine years composing his novel, ca. 1753–1762. No examination record, official appointment, native place, or other biographical detail has been firmly established. The prefaces attached to some editions of Lǜ Yě Xiān Zōng suggest a man who experienced official failure and personal hardship, but these are literary conventions and may not accurately reflect the author’s life.
