Lǐ Zūnxù 李遵勗

Gōngwǔ 公武. Northern Sòng lay Chán patron and imperial in-law (fùmǎ dūwèi 駙馬都尉), husband of a sister of the empress of Sòng Zhēnzōng 真宗. Native of Shàngdǎng 上黨 (modern Chángzhì 長治, Shānxī). Substantial lay practitioner in the Línjì 臨濟 line; studied with Gǔshān Shíjiǎn 谷山石鑑 and Gūyún Yuánwén 孤雲元文. Biography in Sòng shǐ 宋史 j. 464.

Compiler of the Tiānshèng guǎngdēng lù 天聖廣燈錄 (KR6q0004), 30 juan, presented to Sòng Rénzōng 仁宗 in 1029 and printed in 1036 — one of the five principal Sòng Chán lamp records and a rare case of lay-compiled Chán canonical historiography. Also credited with various occasional pieces on Chán matters preserved in later anthologies.

The name is sometimes written 李遵勖 in older sources; the two graphs 勗 and 勖 are variant forms of the same character.
