Lín Shènsī 林愼思 (844–880), Qiánzhōng 虔中, hào Shēnméngzǐ 伸蒙子, was a Late-Táng official and classicist of Chánglè 長樂 (Fúzhōu 福州). He took the jìnshì in Xiántōng 10 (869) and the hóngcí bácuì 宏詞拔萃 examination the following year (870), placing first; was appointed Mìshūshěng jiàoshūláng 秘書省校書郎 and Sub-prefect of Xīngpíng 興平尉, then transferred to Shàngshū Shuǐbù lángzhōng 尚書水部郎中 holding the post of Magistrate of Wànnián 萬年縣令. When Huáng Cháo 黃巢 took Cháng’ān in late 880, Lín stood with the Táng loyalists, refused to submit, and was executed. His major works are the Xù Mèngzǐ 續孟子 (KR3a0017) and the Shēnméngzǐ 伸蒙子 (KR3a0018) — both Confucian -style philosophical compositions modelled respectively on the Mèngzǐ and the Yìjīng hexagram structure (Méng 蒙 + Guān 觀 = ShēnMéng). CBDB has no entry for him; the dates are from his Wikipedia / Xīn Táng shū 200 biography.
