Jìngjué 淨覺 (683–750), early-Táng Chán monk and the compiler of the single most important early-Chán lineage-history text, the Lèngjiā shī zī jì 楞伽師資記 (KR6q0109). Lay surname Wéi 韋; the shù dì 庶弟 (younger half-brother) of Empress Wéi, consort of the Táng emperor Zhōngzōng.

Despite imperial favour — including proposed ennoblement — Jìngjué refused court office and entered monastic life, travelling to the Tàiháng shān 太行山 to receive the tonsure and full precepts. Studied under Shénxiù 神秀 (606?–706), principal figure of Northern-School Chán, during Shénxiù’s final years at the Chāng’ān / Luòyáng imperial court (706–708). After Shénxiù’s death in 706 Jìngjué transferred to the Ānguó sì 安國寺 in Chāng’ān to study under Xuánzé 玄賾 (another of Hóngrěn’s disciples, also at the imperial court), and is identified by DILA as principally Xuánzé’s dharma-heir.

Composed the Lèngjiā shī zī jì at the Tài-háng shān Língquán-gǔ 靈泉谷 (“Spirit-Spring Valley”) during the 710s–720s. The text presents an eight-generation lineage tracing from Guṇabhadra 求那跋陀羅 (the translator of the Laṅkāvatāra-sūtra, here positioned as the root patriarch) through Bodhidharma, Huìkě, Sēngcàn, Dàoxìn, Hóngrěn, Shénxiù, and culminating in Shénxiù’s four principal disciples including Xuánzé — establishing a comprehensive Northern-School canonical lineage-history.

Later resided at the Dàānguó sì 大安國寺 in Chāng’ān (hence the alternate name Ānguó Jìngjué 安國淨覺). Died in 750.

Works in the Kanripo corpus: KR6q0109 Lèngjiā shī zī jì 楞伽師資記 (1 juan, T85 n2837) — Dūnhuáng manuscript recension.
