Tāng Shìzhì 湯世質 (hào Yúncháo lǎorén 雲巢老人), Qīng physician of Nánshuǐ 難水 (a place name in Jiāngxī or the lower Yangtze region), active in the Jiāqìng era. Republished 王肯堂 Wáng Kěntáng’s KR3eq046 Yīxué qióngyuán jí 醫學窮源集 in Jiāqìng 13 (1808) at the Yùmíng cǎotáng 玉茗草堂 after a decade of editorial revision; his preface narrates his earlier travel through the Yangtze region in search of “jīshì 畸士” (extraordinary persons) who could resolve the doctrinal contradictions among the JīnYuán Four Masters, his eventual meeting with Yīn Hézōng 殷合宗 (descendant of Yīn Zháixīn) at a Nánchāng inn, and his purchase of the manuscript.
