Pān Chéng 潘誠 (zì Bǎozhēn 葆真; Qīng), late-Qīng hóukē (laryngology) specialist active in the Dàoguāng era (1820s–1850s), evidently of the Húnán region (his case-records refer to the 1846 [Dàoguāng bǐngwǔ 道光丙午] throat-disease epidemic in his district, and the work was reprinted from his manuscript in 1878 [Guāngxù wùyín] by the Wǎnyuè jūshì 浣月居士 of Héngyáng 衡陽 at the Shùdé táng 樹德堂 in Yángzhōu). Author of the Hóukē xīnfǎ 喉科心法 (KR3em036), a programmatic anti-kǔhán (anti-bitter-cold) Qīng throat-medicine treatise that recovers 薛己 Xuē Jǐ’s Bǔzhōng yìqì method and the cold-pattern Sìnì / Lǐzhōng / Fùzǐ tradition for treating yīn-pattern throat-occlusion. The author’s colophon is signed Pān Chéng Bǎozhēn shì 潘誠葆真氏 and dated 1847 (Dàoguāng dīngwèi 道光二十七年歲次丁未). CBDB has no entry; no further biographical detail located.
