Early Míng official and editor, son of the late-Yuán loyalist Wáng Hàn 王翰 (1333–1378). Style-name Mèngyáng 孟敭; sobriquet Xūzhōu 虛舟. He was entrusted by his father to Wú Hǎi 吳海 just before Wáng Hàn’s suicide in 1378, and grew up in Wú’s household. He passed the Yǒnglè zhìshì metropolitan examination as a gòngshēng, served as a jiànshàn 檢討 in the Hànlín Yuàn and later as compiler. He fell foul of the Yǒnglè-era Yǒnglè dàdiǎn compilation politics and died in prison c. 1415. He compiled his father’s surviving poems as Yǒushí shānrén yígǎo 友石山人遺稿 (KR4d0551) and edited Wú Hǎi’s prose-and-verse collection Wénguòzhāi jí 聞過齋集 (KR4d0552). He has his own biéjí, the Xūzhōu jí 虛舟集.
