Wáng Cún (1023–1101; Jìngzhòng 敬仲), a native of Dānyáng 丹陽 in Rùnzhōu 潤州 (modern Jiāngsū), passed the jìnshì in Qìnglì 6 (1046) and entered office as zhǔbù 主簿 of Jiāxīng 嘉興. Under Shénzōng he served successively as Zuǒ jiànyì dàfū, Zhī zhìgào 知制誥 (Drafter), and Hànlín xuéshì, rising to Shàngshū yòuchéng 尚書右丞 (Vice President of the Right of the Department of State Affairs) under Zhézōng. He was the principal editor of the imperially commissioned Yuánfēng jiǔyù zhì KR2k0005, presented to the throne in Yuánfēng 3 (1080). His biography is in Sòngshǐ 341. Wáng was associated with the conservative bloc and is recorded as a moderate critic of Wáng Ānshí’s reforms; his role in the Jiǔyù zhì project owed to his philological standing and his service in the drafting offices. CBDB id 1897 is the row whose dates (1023–1101) and dynastic placement match this Wáng Cún.
