Wáng Jì 王寂 (lifedates uncertain; fl. through 1190s; conventional dates c. 1128–1194 per various local gazetteers), Yuánlǎo 元老, posthumous shì Wénsù 文肅, native of Yùtián 玉田 in Jìzhōu 薊州 (modern Héběi). Jīn Tiāndé 2 (1150) jìnshì. The Jīnshǐ has no biography; the Sìkù editors reconstruct his career from internal poetic evidence as follows: from Dàdìng 2 (1162) Magistrate of Qíxiàn (Tàiyuán); in Dàdìng 15 (1175) Imperial Envoy to Báixí for judicial review; 1177 mourning leave for his father’s death; from 1178 Vice-Prefect of Zhēndìng with concurrent Vice-Commander of Héběixīlù; Prefect of Tōngzhōu; Vice-Vice-Regent of Zhōngdū; from Dàdìng 26 (1186) winter Prefect of Càizhōu (after demotion on factional grounds — restored to favor in the 1187 amnesty); from 1189 Inspector of Liáodōnglù judicial cases (the journey recorded in his lost Běiqiān lù); recalled in Zhāngzōng’s accession (1190); ending as Zhōngdūlù Transport Commissioner. His collected works survive as the Yǒnglè dàdiǎn-reconstructed Zhuōxuān jí KR4d0416 in six juàn. CBDB person 17425.
