Wáng Déchén 王得臣 (1036–after 1115), zì Yànfǔ 彥輔, hào Fèngtíng zǐ 鳳亭子 (“Phoenix-Pavilion Scion”). Native of Ānlù 安陸 (in Déān 德安 prefecture, modern Húběi). Jiāyòu 4 (1059) jìnshì — student first of Zhèng Xiè 鄭獬 and then of Hú Yuán 胡瑗 (the great Northern Sòng educator). Long career in central and provincial administration; ended at Sīnóng shǎoqīng 司農少卿 (Vice-Minister of the Agricultural Court); retired at age 62 in Shàoshèng 4 (1097) on grounds of eye-illness. Compiler of the Zhǔ shǐ 麈史 (KR3j0090), a 3-juan Northern Sòng bǐjì completed at age 80 in 1115. A Luò-school (Chéng Hào’s circle) philosopher who refused factional partisanship — his name accordingly did not appear on the Yuányòu dǎng bēi 元祐黨碑 of 1102.
