Wáng Hóng 王洪 (1379–1420), zì Xīfàn 希範, hào Yìzhāi 毅齋, native of Qiántáng 錢塘 (Hángzhōu, Zhèjiāng). Hóngwǔ dīngchǒu (1397) jìnshì at age 18; appointed xíngrén 行人, then Lìkē jǐshìzhōng 吏科給事中. In Chéngzǔ’s reign by recommendation entered the Hànlín; jiǎntǎo → xiūzhuàn → shìjiǎng; vice chief-editor (fù zǒngcái) of the Yǒnglè dàdiǎn. According to Mò Jū’s 莫琚 postface to his collected works (corroborated by Zēng Qǐ’s 曾棨 elegy line yùtáng fēnzhí jiàn gūzhōng), Wáng refused to allow great ministers to record their families’ auspicious-omens into the rìlì (Daily Records) of the guóshǐ; the matter was reported to Chéngzǔ; he was demoted to Lǐbù zhǔshì 禮部主事 and died in office. Míng shǐ j. 286 (Wényuàn) appended to Lín Hóng 林鴻 (gives a different, suppressive account of the demotion). Multiple homonyms in CBDB; cbdbId 126590 (1379–1420) corresponds. Surviving works are KR4e0087 Yìzhāi shīwén jí.
