Mid-Qīng (KāngxīYōngzhèngQiánlóng era) lay Buddhist scholar, sobriquets Guīyī jūshì 歸一居士 (“Lay-Devotee Returning-to-the-One”) and Jùchuān 巨川. Native of Pénglái 蓬萊 (in modern Shāndōng peninsula). Lifedates unknown; the floruit given here (1700–1740) reflects the period of his attested commentarial activity.

His attested works are paired Diamond Sūtra and Heart Sūtra commentaries:

  • Jīngāng jīng jùjiě yìzhī 金剛經句解易知 (his earlier work, on the Diamond Sūtra)
  • Bōrě xīnjīng jùjiě yìzhī 般若心經句解易知 (X569 = KR6c0188, on the Heart Sūtra; took three years to complete and is the sequel to the Diamond Sūtra commentary)

His self-preface explains the jù-jiě yìzhī genre programme: combining systematic line-by-line gloss with deliberate accessibility for the beginning student. He represents the Yangtze-delta and northern-China lay-devotee Buddhist commentary culture of the early-to-mid Qīng period, paralleling Wáng Qǐlóng (KR6c0180), Zhòng Zhīpíng (KR6c0183), and Sūn Niànqú (KR6c0185) in the broader pattern of lay scholars producing paired Prajñāpāramitā short-sūtra commentaries.
