Huángfǔ Zēng 皇甫曾

Xiàocháng 孝常. Younger brother of Huángfǔ Rǎn 皇甫冉. Native of Āndìng 安定 by family origin, but long-resident at Wúxī 無錫 in Jiāngnán. Jìnshì of Tiānbǎo 12 (753); successively jiānchá yùshǐ 監察御史 and Yángzhōu sīmǎ 陽州司馬. Lifedates not securely fixed; floruit Tiānbǎo through Dàlì (ca. 750–780). CBDB has no entry.

His extant verse — preserved as appendix to his elder brother’s collection at KR4c0016 — is in the same contemplative shānshuǐ idiom as Rǎn’s. The two brothers are conventionally counted among the Dàlì shí cáizǐ 大曆十才子 (“Ten Talented Men of the Dàlì period”), but as a pair they constitute one of the few cases in the Táng of two siblings each producing a substantial biéjí.
